Whether you and your family plan to get out of the house and go trick or treating, or if you decide to stay in and pass out candy, here are some tips to follow that can help keep you safe.
If you are trick or treating:
- Wear a mask. A costume mask will not work in place of a cloth mask.
- Avoid large crowds when possible.
- Make sure to social distance and stay 6 feet away from other people.
- Use hand sanitizer often.
- Wash your hands with soap and water when you get home.
If you are passing out candy at home:
- Wear a mask.
- Pass candy out outside instead of indoors.
- Setup a table or area outside where trick-or-treaters can pick out candy without coming in contact with you.
- Try to social distance and keep 6 feet between you and others.
- Use hand sanitizer and wash your hands after handling items other people touch.
There are several alternatives to trick or treating too that you and your family can take advantage of if you want to avoid close contact with others. You can stay in and watch scary movies, do a scavenger hunt, or you can drive around the neighborhood and admire people’s decorations.
